What’s in a UK IBAN
A UK IBAN has 22 characters. It carries your sort code and account number, so a bank abroad can find the account.

How the check digits work
The two digits after the country code are worked out from the rest of the IBAN. If one character is mistyped, or two are swapped, the sum no longer works and the checker tells you. It can’t tell you who holds the account.
Where to find your IBAN
UK banks show it in their app or online banking, usually under account details, and on paper statements. Read how to find your IBAN, or see the IBAN format for every country.
